RandD > 2008.08.08 (Fri) - Went in late to work but in time to grab my doughnut. I took off at noon, ran home and packed for our trip to Fernley NV to see Robin's Dad and Virginia. We stopped to grab some car shots in Reno and then Sparks. We haven't been up to Reno for the Hot August Nights car show in a few years. It is a huge event, we hope to sneak out for a couple of hours on Saturday for some more shots. While in Sparks I grabbed this shot, very nice paint job on this custom Pontiac! RandD > 2008.09.06 (Sat) - More Here... Robin and I got into Reno about 10PM last night with Jen, B, & Bri. Robin and I got to bed right away, the kids, of course, stayed up later. We got up at 4AM, checked out and headed to Rancho San Rafael Park for the balloon races. We arrived in time for the glow show, very cool. Next was the "Dawn Patrol", but I think the best part was the mass ascension! There were 100 balloons there and they all began inflating and taking to the sky at about 7AM. The crowd was allowed to walk in and among the balloons as they were preparing and it was pretty cool! James and Doreen were in Reno and we had hoped to run into them but we missed each other. We took way too many photos and posted the best of them in this separate gallery for those interested. It was hard picking one for my daily photo and I finally settled on this one. After the balloons drifted away we ran to Denny's for breakfast and then headed home for a nice long nap. After the nap I got a call from an old friend and we spoke on the phone for quite some time, we made plans to get together and I look forward to it. Dinner was "fend for yourself", Jen stayed, it was really nice having her around, we miss her lots. Well, we all had a great time and look forward to going again next year. Until tomorrow, Darron
RandD > 2008.06.22 (Sun) - Day three of the Bell reunion and I got up early to go look for a good shot. I decided to run into Chester about five miles away. There was a layer of fog in the marshy area just outside of town. It was very beautiful, this shot barely does it justice. After I returned, we had breakfast and hung out for the day. Jen, Brandon, Briana, and Robin played badminton for a while. Robin and I went out later for a seven mile bike ride though downtown Chester. Later that day we said goodbye to family members who had to take off for home.More photos from today! Until tomorrow, Darron
RandD > 2009.05.01 (Fri) - New found friends (including Kamryn who actually took the photo) First off, here is a link to the rest of the photos from our SmugMug outting. Robin and I had a very nice day today, we got up early and went to the Thrive 2009 conference at our church, the morning session was awesome. We were so beat from all the fun we had yesterday that we actually went home around lunch and took a three hour nap while it rained. I am still a day behind in posting my dailies and had some pretty good shots from our morning but wanted to post a group shot from our day yesterday. I just can't tell you how great it was to spend the day with the neatest people I've met in a very long time. Robin and I joke around about how "socially retarded" we are and it really took us out of our comfort zone to go meet up with a bunch of people that we had never met before and I am so glad that we did. I don't know why we get nervous about meeting new people, I guess sometimes we worry about not fitting in but you know what... We really did, Lady Kate, Kamryn, Monica, and Hillary all made us feel very welcome. I just wanted to express again how much fun we had meeting up with our Smugmug friends. Thanks guys for sharing your lives with us the other day, we hope to build on the friendships we made. I hope you all had a great Friday, until tomorrow... Darron
RandD > 2008.12.05 (Fri) - Feeling a bit better today, I decided to go into work. We had our usual Friday meeting at SGS, then drove over to our offices where Jason treated us to coffee at a quaint little coffee shop downtown where we talked shop for a while. Returned to work late afternoon and got back to work. It was a nice break from the usual project work. Headed home and picked up Brandon, went to Sushi for dinner befor picking up Bri at work. Picked up Daniel and dropped her off with B and Bri at the movies. Robin and I took off looking for a daily photo. It was foggy and I went back to Daniel's neighborhood for this shot of a nearby oak tree that looked cool in the fog with the light beaming through the branches. Until tomorrow, Darron
RandD > 2009.03.02 (Mon) - Magical Roseville Had a good day, went in a bit later than usual, going to start working later shifts while Rob is out enjoying time with Livia, his new daughter. Ate lunch at my desk, had a late meeting and took off about 6PM. The drive home was great, hardly any traffic at all. Got home and had Dinner with Robin and then we took off in search of a photo. Ended up on Vernon Street in Old Roseville. Walked from the old Tower Theater to the old Roseville Theater where I grabbed this shot. Hope you all had a wonderful day, until tomorrow... Darron
RandD > 2008.08.09 (Sat) - Had a good day, got up early and spent time with Tom and Virginia. Tom took an afternoon nap and the four of us ran out to the Fernley Raceway to meet Mike from work. He was there racing motorcycles with family. I shot some photos but they really didn't turn out. Turns out I am not much of an action photographer. I'll post the few good ones when I get home tomorrow. We were going to run to Reno but decided to return to Robin's dads to see if he was awake. He was so we hung out, ate dinner and then took off for Sparks later in the evening to shoot some cars. Parking was a nightmare, we finally got a spot but by the time we got to the cruise the light was no good. We got a few good shots before dark and then broke out the tripod. RandD > 2009.01.31 (Sat) - It is still early and I've done so much already. I got up early and ran 5K with my best time this year then showered, changed, and took off with Robin for another morning photo shoot above the old Fair Oaks bridge. We arrived a bit later than we had planned so we missed the sun breaking the horizon but it was still a beautiful morning. We grabbed several nice shots, I'll post one of Robins in her gallery. I liked the way this shot was framed by the oak tree. Returned home and grabbed Brandon and went to Mels Diner for breakfast. We got home about 30 minutes ago and just now got a chance to post the daily. Have a great weekend all... Until tomorrow, Darron
RandD > 2009.04.30 (Thu) - Had a great time in the city with new Smugmug friends. Spent the day on pier 39, I loved this shot of Hillary and Monica. Ate lunch at my desk, had a late meeting and took off about 6PM. The drive home was great, hardly any traffic at all. Got home and had Dinner with Robin and then we took off in search of a photo.
