RandD > 2009.03.15 (Sun) - [SP, Day 1]

Had a nice day, we got up early and took off to the west side of Roseville around 5AM. Got some interesting shots before the sun came up, then returned home to get ready for church. We went to the 11:30 service so that Brandon could join us in the Main worship service, it was nice being together the three of us. The message was good. We returned home and cooked lunch and ate together and then the three of us all split up the house and yard work and spent the next few hours getting things in order around our place. It felt good to get it all done, the teamwork really worked well.

After getting the chores done, Robin got online for a while while Brandon played some X-Box. I ran off to the spare bedroom and made my first daily attempt at this week's self portrait series. I went with the natural light coming in the window, not really the best photo so I did what I could in the digital darkroom. Went with a selective color and cropped to hide some features I don't like.

Well, hope you all had a good day. Until tomorrow...

RandD > 2008.10.09 (Thu) - Rode the bike in today, it was a bit cool on the way in. got in about 6:30. I stirred things up a bit at work today, just running out of patience regarding an issue I've been dealing with for a while. I tend to be a fairly patient person but today I decided to make some noise. I hope the issue gets resolved soon but I won't hold my breath. After stirring things up I attended a couple of meetings and the rest of the time I struggled with some PL/SQL code today before giving up and going home. I did have a nice lunch with Bobby, the best part of my work day.

The ride home was grueling with a 15.8 mile per hour head wind for 50 minutes straight, I was beat when I got home. Watched some TV and relaxed a bit until Robin got up. She was getting ready to work and we got a little time together before she had to take off.

I decided to do a SP for today's daily but I really didn't like the way any of them turned out. B&W conversion looked better but still not to thrilled with it so I decided to go for an abstract of myself. I guess I can be a grump sometimes, I wonder if this is how people see me sometimes... I certainly feel this way sometimes!

Until tomorrow,

Darron
RandD > 2008.08.13 (Wed) - Okay, you know how sometimes things just don't seem to go the way you think they should? Well, I had one of those days at work today but I can honestly say that it was a good day.

I biked in, the ride home was very hot. Ate dinner with the family, tried to shoot yesterdays spider again but with little luck. Took off and did my regular Wednesday night study with the guys, I got a lot out of it.

I returned home and found a willing subject for my daily photo. Took several shots but later discovered the white balance was set incorrectly so tried a new B&W conversion technique to save myself from re-shooting.

Very tired, ready for bed... Until tomorrow,

Darron
RandD > 2008.07.18 (Fri) - Biked in today, I wrapped up the Process Flows and Use Cases that were due by the end of day Monday. I got called up for jury duty and have to report at 9AM Monday so all my deliverables had to be completed today. The ride home was hot and I worked a bit late so I took Sunrise Blvd all the way home.... Bad idea, I may have saved 10 minutes but it would have been safer to take my usual route.

Got home, showered, changed, and took Brandon out to dinner. We went and checked on the "Beaver Tree". It is still standing and while we were there we got to see some of the beavers swimming in the wetlands that they have created, it was pretty neat.

We returned home and Brandon hopped on X-Box live and I started reading a new book I picked up. It is a book on C# business objects. The guys at work have decided that we are going to use CSLA for our business object archictecture so I am going to need to get familiar with it fairly quickly. A couple of chapters in and I realized I needed to grab my daily photo so I opted for this self portrait.

Until tomorrow,

Darron
RandD > 2008.05.31 (Sat) - We slept in this morning and after Robins wonderful waffle breakfast we packed up the bikes and took off to the river for our first ride together.

We were going to start off fairly easy with a "little" 20 mile ride along the river but Robin was doing so well on her new bike that we kept going. We stopped in Discovery Park (mile 14) to eat our packed lunch and then continue on the rest of the way to Old Sacramento, turning around at the railroad museum. After we turned around we stopped and grabbed this shot of ourselves on the river. Then we sat and watched a young girl and her family play in a fountain, it was great! After that we continued back to Goethe Park where we started our ride.

We made it back but 33 miles ended up being a bit much for the first time. We had a great ride and got a nice nap in after we got home. We are going to get a lot of nice rides in together!

Take care,

Darron
RandD > 2008.05.21 (Wed) - What a day. I got a flat on my way to work today and my spare had a hole! I patched the spare and got to work okay but after work, the patch gave way. Luckly for me, Robin was off work so she came out and rescued me.

On the way home we stopped at Performance Bikes and bought a new tire and some new tubes to get my bike back on the road. After that we ran home for dinner, dropped B & B off at youth and took off looking for a photo for today.

It was nice out but very windy. We ended up walking around a business park and shooting some buildings. While we were there I shot this photo of our reflection in one of the windows. It was nice hanging out together.

Catch you tomorrow,

Darron
RandD > 2008.04.29 (Tue) - We got home late from our photography class and I had to choose between taking my photo of the day, or patching a flat bike tire so I could ride in to work tomorrow.

That's when I said to my self, "Self, why not do both?"

What did Robert Burns say about best laid schemes? (Gang aft a-gley!) Well, the new tube blew out as soon as I inflated it (there was a burr inside the rim) so it looks as if I will be driving the car tomorrow anyway.

Sorry about the lack of photographic effort, I'll do better tomorrow.
